ICELAND ON THE ROAD

Iceland in winter is, by far, the most beautiful and magical place I’ve ever been to. The power of pure nature and the majestic landscapes covered in snow is something that is still resonating in my head ever since I visited this amazing country for the first time last February.

It was my first time solo-travelling and it could not have been a better experience. I did an 8 day road-trip from Reykjavik to Vestrahorn Mountain driving through the south coast of the island. It was a last minute decision to go there, with the only purpose of enjoying photography while discovering a new place.
Because it was February, there was almost no tourism. The only few I could encounter were in the capital during my last day there. This was another extra addition to the trip that made everything shine even brighter. To be able to stand completely alone in front of places like Fjallsárlon or Svínafellsjökul it’s something I’ll try to never forget.

These photos are a short selection of the beauty I encountered during the 1.200km I drove during my time there. Working with these images in the darkroom for a very long period of time has been an absolute joy. Printing your own work it’s the perfect excuse to spend more time with your photographs and take the time to think about them. It also has made me appreciate, even more, all the beauty I was able to witness and the importance of taking care of our planet so we can preserve such beautiful places.
