THE EDGE OF SUMMER

Manuela Iodice

Manuela Iodice’s latest photographic series, shot during the summer in Puglia, captures a powerful sense of connection to the land. She explores the southern-most part of region, between Marina di Pescoluse and Cala dell’Acquaviva, wandering through maritime pines, cacti and the native shrubs, and reflecting on how they engage with the artificial elements and the human presence.

The project is deeply personal yet universal. Iodice, originally from Campania but residing in Milan with her partner, who is from Puglia, uses these summer visits as a moment to reconnect with her roots. “The edge of summer” draws attention to the understated beauty and quietness of this Southern Italian region, where the Adriatic and the Ionian Sea meet.
