MONO NO AWARE

Manuela Iodice

A train window, a fading sky,
light resting briefly on a stranger’s sleeve.

Nothing asks to be remembered,
and yet everything is already leaving.

In Japan, you learn to look at things
the way you watch petals fall —
not to keep them,
but to feel the quiet ache of their passing.

Beauty lives here,
in the moment just before goodbye.
