ONE HALF PARADISE
Cam Lindfors
This photo series examines Isla Vista, a coastal college town where carefree living collides with the realities of a changing climate. Shot over the span of a year, the work documents a community that embraces excess and celebration, even as its cliffs erode and its infrastructure buckles. The images capture a culture of exaggerated euphoria—students throwing themselves into sun-soaked parties and late nights—while the surrounding landscape bears the marks of constant decline. Here, climate change isn’t distant or abstract; it is visible in the collapsing shoreline, the sinking houses, and the uneasy sense that paradise is already disappearing.
