The earth at my back

Fan Zhou

This ongoing visual project considers the quiet weight of everyday life. Photographed in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, the series lingers on the space where spiritual practice meets the ordinary around local temples. Rather than reportage, it embraces a cinematic, instinctive visual language, observing fleeting moments as they unfold. At its core is an interest in the subtle dialogue between people, place, and the natural world, shaped by an Eastern sense of stillness and space.

Fan Zhou

Fanzhou is a visual artist and photographer based between Shanghai and Europe. Working at the intersection of fashion and humanistic documentation, his practice is shaped by a distinctly Eastern sensibility of restraint, quiet observation, and spatial attentiveness. His images do not seek the decisive moment; they arrive after it, in the stillness that follows. He does not direct so much as attend, allowing people and places to reveal themselves on their own terms.
