LUCID REALITY

Alecio Ferrari

Alecio Ferrari, a Milan-based photographer born in 1995, is known for his visual research and photographic experimentation, where he plays on the boundaries between real and imaginary. With a background in graphic design from Falmouth University in the UK and a Master’s in Lens-Based Media from the Willem de Kooning Academy in the Netherlands, Ferrari’s work spans genres—from still life to portraiture—often mixing staged scenes with candid moments. Ferrari’s visual research captures the complex, often ambivalent, relationship humans share with nature, offering viewers an introspective look at the world.

In his series Lucid Reality, Ferrari explores the concept of “lucid dreams,” where one is aware of dreaming yet still enveloped in surreal visions. The title reflects Ferrari’s approach to photography as a bridge between conscious and subconscious states. His images in this series appear dreamlike but are meticulously composed, challenging viewers to question what is real and what is imagined. Through peculiar framing and composition and a subtle symbolism, Ferrari invites audiences into a reality that feels familiar yet distant—a “lucid reality” where imagination and truth intersect, echoing the strange beauty of our everyday experiences.
