HENUA

Sam Richon
Sam Richon work is defined by warm colors, nuanced atmospheres and a emphasis on spontaneity and authenticity. Indulging in our fascination for lesser-known places, we are happy to present his first photo book, HENUA, which embodies the same values and aesthetic. The 96-pages volume presents a series of fifty-two images shot in the Marquesas Islands, a remote group of volcanic islands in French Polynesia, located in the central South Pacific.
Nuku Hiva – where Sam created this series – is the largest of these islands and serves as the administrative center of the archipelago. Nuku Hiva offers a unique landscape shaped by volcanic activity. The island is home to Taiohae, the main village and harbor, and features archaeological sites, ancient tikis, and petroglyphs that reflect its rich Polynesian heritage. Nuku Hiva is also noted for its biodiversity and traditional Marquesan culture.
Sam’s soft touch conveys all the splendor of the island unspoiled nature, and gently takes us on a new exotic journey.
